The Iglesia Parroquial de San Sebastián dates from the 15th century and combines Gothic and Renaissance architectural elements.

Culture

The Museo Foto-Etnológico «La Molineta» is located in a former windmill built in 1861. It conveys the local way of life through old objects and more than 150 black-and-white photographs donated by residents.

The open-air Centro de Interpretación de las Bodas de Camacho is located in the Los Casares natural area near the N-430. Three information panels present the Bodas de Camacho and explain the associated chapters from historical, artistic, gastronomic and cultural perspectives.

The Plaza de Toros de Munera is approximately square on the outside and round on the inside; it was inaugurated on 22 September 1913.

Nature

In the upper area of Los Riscos, Munera has two viewpoints from which the landscape of La Mancha can be observed. The network of paths connects the natural areas of Los Casares, El Vao and the Ermita de la Fuente.

The Ojuelo spring provides a continuous flow of water that emerges between trees and blackberry bushes. In the Los Casares natural area, the Quintanar and Ojuelo rivers converge to form the Córcoles, a tributary of the Záncara. The viewpoints, paths, spring and river landscape therefore offer different focal points for planning.

Other places: Alcaraz, Riópar, Zapateros, Hellín, La Roda, Los Pocicos, Ayna and Alborea.

Traditions and Festivals

Outside Munera, the Ermita de Nuestra Señora de La Fuente is located near El Vao and the Molino de la Bella Quiteria. The Baroque building dates from the 18th century. The existence of the Virgen de La Fuente is documented as early as 1587.

San Isidro is a local festival that has existed for many years and takes place on 15 May. The festival includes a procession from the parish church to the Ermita de la Virgen de la Fuente, followed by a pilgrimage with folk music and regional dances.

Los Mayos are sung every 30 April in honour of the Virgen de La Fuente, followed by regional dances. Munera’s patron saint’s feast was introduced in 1756 through the Voto de Villa in honour of the Virgen de la Fuente.

The Jornadas de las Bodas de Camacho combine local handicrafts, gastronomy and folklore. The Feria y Fiestas de Munera was celebrated in 2024 from 20 to 25 September and is recognised as a festival of regional tourism interest.

«La Encantá» is a festival night held on the Saturday closest to Saint John’s Day and takes place in the surroundings of the associated natural area.
