Borleña: Nature Trails, Culture and Holiday Apartment

The Senda Fluvial Arroyo de la Llana runs through Borleña and then continues parallel to the Arroyo La Llana, ending at the Churrón de Borleña waterfall. Tufa formations can be observed at the Churrón de Borleña waterfall.

The Ruta Churrón de Borleña begins in Borleña at the car park next to Parque de Borleña. The car park is suitable for leaving your vehicle and setting off on foot; access to the route is at the junction with the N-623 in the centre of Borleña. The La Piedrona de Villegar route also begins at the same car park.

Nature

The riverside forest along the Arroyo La Llana is considered to be in an optimal state of conservation. The Ruta Churrón de Borleña passes through two habitats of community interest that are included in the European Union Habitats Directive and served as the basis for the designation of the Natura 2000 network.

On the La Piedrona de Villegar route, an exceptional panoramic view of the Valle de Toranzo opens up beyond the denser forest.

Events

For 2026, the Bolo Palma competition Mem. Gabriel Sainz was scheduled to take place in La Riguera in Borleña. The throws were scheduled for 9, 10, 13 and 14 July, with the final on 26 July.

A new edition of the Borleña Folk festival will take place on Saturday, 9 August. The programme includes activities from the morning onwards, traditional music, folk performances and a Bolo Palma demonstration. Free camping, craft stalls and a market are also planned.

The two events differ in format: the Bolo Palma competition is structured around several throwing days and a later final, while Borleña Folk combines a day's programme of music, folklore, a market and crafts. This information makes the events identifiable as distinct cultural themes.

A small chapel has a rectangular single-nave layout and a rectangular apse. The baptismal font and two corbels from the church were moved to the Ermita de Santa Lucía in Salcedillo.
