Culture and History

The play “El Bien y el Mal” is classified in Tuineje as intangible Cultural Heritage of Interest (BIC) in the category “social, ritual and festive use”. The performance setting in Tuineje includes the Iglesia de San Miguel Arcángel church and the Christmas season in the town.

Casa de Las Simonas is a restored traditional 18th-century building with a room for historical and cultural exhibitions. The SL FV 6 hiking trail from Tuineje to Tiscamanita is of geological and geomorphological significance, as well as historical, heritage-conservation and ethnographic importance, particularly in connection with hydraulic and agricultural use. The route is 5.6 km long, takes approximately 2.25 hours and has a low difficulty level.

Route 38 begins in the town of Tuineje on Fuerteventura’s extensive central plain and heads south through a dry landscape characterised by caliche. Route 37 connects Tiscamanita with Tuineje via the Cortijo de Teguerey area.

The various routes can be compared side by side in terms of their course, landscape and time required. The length and duration of the SL FV 6 provide a different planning framework from the trails connecting Tuineje with other landscapes and towns.

The Fiestas Juradas de San Miguel Arcángel celebrations include historical re-enactments, processions and cultural events.
