Platja De Migjorn: Holiday Apartment on Formentera’s Southern Coast

Playa Migjorn refers to the southern coast of Formentera. This coastal stretch extends over five kilometres of beach and consists of several named coves separated from one another by rocky and sandy areas. Playa de Migjorn is 3.5 kilometres long and approximately 40 metres wide on average. It is shaped like a large crescent. Along Playa de Migjorn, wind and sea occasionally form small caves. The water is clear; you can go snorkelling in the clear waters of Playa de Migjorn. The seabeds are sandy and covered with Posidonia.

Nature and Coast

The coast of Playa de Migjorn belongs to the Área Natural de Especial Interés de Platja de Migjorn-Costa de Tramuntana. The named beach areas include Es Arenals, which is surrounded by dunes. There you will find shallow turquoise water in which you can stand for many metres. Es Arenals beach also has a kayak rental service and a lifeguard service. Es Copinar has a different coastal character, with clear water, white sand and small rocky areas.

Routes

Route 24 is 1.4 kilometres long, takes 25 minutes on foot or 10 minutes by bicycle, and has a medium difficulty level. It connects the Tramuntana coast with the southern coast. The route follows a path bordering a pine and juniper forest and ends in Es Copinar, one of the last beaches of Migjorn.

The Es Carnatge – Es Arenals route is 1.5 kilometres long. It takes 25 minutes on foot and 10 minutes by bicycle; it also has a medium difficulty level. It leads to Es Arenals beach. Route 21 Sant Ferran – Cala En Baster – Platja de Migjorn, on the other hand, follows inland paths with a distinctly agricultural character and ends in Migjorn.

The Es Pujols – Es Ca Marí route directly connects the two coastal areas of Llevant and Migjorn. It leads to Es Ca Marí, a beach area of Playa de Migjorn. Es Ca Marí is one of the more accessible areas of Migjorn for vehicles.

Location and Paths

Playa de Migjorn is easy to reach by road via a signposted access route; parking is available in the surrounding area. Playa de Migjorn can be reached by bicycle from Sant Francesc. Caló des Mort is located nearby, between Playa de Migjorn and Es Ram. Also nearby, a hiking trail approximately 800 metres long leads down to Caló des Mort.

Culture and History

A three-storey defensive tower was built in 1763. Its interior is the only interior of its kind on the island that can be visited.
