The Desfiladero de las Xanas Gorge lies almost entirely in Santo Adriano; only a small section inside the gorge belongs to Proaza. It features a diverse mixed forest with hazel trees, hawthorns, ash trees, lime trees, maple trees, whitebeams and elms. Golden eagles and Egyptian vultures can be observed in the gorge; in some places, it reaches a depth of up to 100 metres.
The Ruta de Las Xanas (PR-AS 186) is designated as a natural monument. The first section of the Senda del Oso begins in Tuñón in Santo Adriano and ends in Caranga Baxu in Proaza. The Tuñón–Caranga section of the Senda del Oso is an easy, family-friendly route.
Walking and Cycling
Access to the Senda del Oso in Tuñón is via the A-63 to Trubia, followed by the AS-228 to the Área Recreativa de Tuñón. The Centro de BTT Valles del Oso is located at the beginning of the Senda del Oso Greenway.

Culture and History
La Ponte is an ecomuseum and research centre for history, culture and heritage. La Ponte offers free guided tours of five cultural heritage sites in Santo Adriano and organises ethnographic workshops as well as workshops on traditional Asturian crafts.
The Puente Romano de Villanueva crosses the Trubia River in Villanueva. Despite its typology as a Roman bridge, it is actually of medieval origin. The mines of La Parva in Castañeo del Monte are among the oldest industrial iron-mining sites in Asturias.
The Romanesque Church of San Romano is dated to the period between the late 12th and early 13th centuries. Its round apse contains 16th-century wall paintings in a Gothicising style.
The engravings in the Abrigo de Santo Adriano mainly depict bison, hinds and goats. The Abrigo de Santo Adriano contains up to 30 engravings from the Upper Palaeolithic. Visits to the Abrigo de Santo Adriano are free of charge and require prior reservation.
The Cueva del Conde contains non-figurative engravings from the Aurignacian period, dated to approximately 30,000 years before the present. Extensive stone tools were also discovered in the Cueva del Conde; they have been attributed to Neanderthals and Cro-Magnons.
