The first section of the Senda del Oso follows the former route of a mining railway and ends in Caranga Baxu in Proaza. The Tuñón–Caranga section of the Senda del Oso is an easy route and is suitable for families. On this section, the Senda del Oso is suitable for hiking and cycling.
A route through the Peñas Xuntas gorge runs along the river and passes through a landscape characterised by holm oaks (Quercus ilex) before reaching Proaza.
History and Architectural Heritage
The Torre del Campo was built in 1495. It is a defensive structure on a small hill, with the Payón stream serving as a natural moat. The Central Hidroeléctrica de Proaza was designed by the architect and artist Joaquín Vaquero Palacios.
Banduxu preserves a medieval architectural ensemble and was declared a Bien de Interés Cultural in 2009. Anyone travelling to Banduxu by car must park at the entrance to the village, as traffic within the village is permitted only for residents. The Palacio de González Tuñón dates from the 18th century. The Palacio de Báscones is located in the vicinity of Proaza.

Events and Gastronomy
The Mercáu de l'Alcordanza has been held in Proaza every October for more than a decade. The Mercáu features demonstrations and workshops in wood carving, basket weaving and traditional wooden-shoe making. The Jornadas Gastronómicas de la Seronda, associated with the Mercáu de l'Alcordanza, showcase Asturian products such as chestnut stew, wild boar and apple compote.
