Culture
The Ethnographic Museum of Ibias provides insights into the traditional occupations of the municipality, including those of the Tixileiros, carpenters and basket makers. In the adjacent La Palloza building, traditional circular or oval houses with masonry walls and rye-straw roofs are recreated.
The Museo Etnográfico del Tixileiro in Sisterna displays a foot-operated lathe and various wooden objects, especially tableware, made by former Cunqueiros. Sisterna and El Bao preserve the memory of the itinerant woodworking tradition of the Cunqueiros of Ibias, who made and sold wooden objects across large parts of Spain from autumn to spring.
The Church of San Antolín dates back to the 13th century. It has a porch supported by slender columns on a slate wall; its main façade is designed as a three-storey bell gable.
The municipal tourist information office is located in the building housing the Aula de la Naturaleza and the Ethnographic Museum.
Trails and historical traces
Several stages of the GR-203 long-distance trail pass through Ibias, three of them in their entirety and two partially; the two partial stages also pass through Cangas and Degaña, respectively.
Ibias has 11 short-distance hiking routes, where you can find dolmens, pallozas, cortines and remains of Roman mining, among other features. The Desfiladero de Bustelín route leads to Cova da Osa, an ancient prospecting gallery excavated into the rock during the Roman gold-mining period.
La Pena’l Corvo on the Senda del Oro is a well-preserved ethnographic complex with a dwelling, granary, mill, stable and a small chapel. The Senda del Oro also passes historic wine-growing terraces, some of which are used to produce Tierra de Cangas wine.
Riodeporcos can only be reached via a suspension bridge over the River Navia.
Nature and landscape
Parts of Ibias lie within the Fuentes del Narcea, Degaña e Ibias Nature Park and Biosphere Reserve. Black slate, pallozas and high-altitude vineyards are characteristic elements of the cultural landscape of Ibias.
The sources of the River Ibias and its tributaries flow through the sierras and valleys with crystal-clear water. Monte de Valdebois in the Muniellos Forest is the most important area of this natural region.

The El Tixileiro shop in Sisterna offers Asturian honey with PGI status, DOP Cangas wines, cheese, as well as sausages from León and Iberian cured meats.
Geographical setting
The approach to Ibias via Puerto del Connio passes through the Muniellos Biological Reserve.
