Trails and Water

The Ría del Eo Interpretation Centre in Castropol provides visitors with 27 electric bicycles for exploring the Río Eo, Oscos and Terras de Burón Biosphere Reserve.
Boat trips on the Ría del Eo allow visitors to observe the local flora and fauna. Visitors can also go canoeing and kayaking on the Ría del Eo.
The Arnao–Vegadeo coastal path, GR-204, passes through Castropol. It runs through the Río Eo, Oscos and Terras de Burón Biosphere Reserve and partly through the Natura 2000 ZEC and ZEPA sites of the Ría del Eo.
The route to the Cioyo waterfall is challenging and includes narrow sections, rocks and exposed roots.
Culture and History
The historic complex of Castropol includes Baroque, Modernist, Eclectic, Rationalist and Montañan Regionalist architecture.
The Santa María del Campo Chapel survived the fire that destroyed the town of Castropol in 1587. The Santiago Apóstol Church was a landmark on the Way of St. James in Asturias and preserves a significant collection of Baroque altarpieces.
The vicinity of Castropol is home to Palacio Marques de Santa Cruz, a palace, Cofradia de pescadores, a museum, Palacio de Trenor, a palace, and Castelo d'Arroxo, a castle.
Traditions and Crafts
The crafts and knowledge associated with the lateen-sail boat, as well as its navigation on the Ría del Eo, are registered as intangible cultural heritage of cultural interest.
