Becharro lies on the “Camino de Castropol por la Ensenada de A Lieira”, as a group of houses belonging to the parish of Piñeira on the descent to the river. The “Becharro–Villamil” route is designated as a 1.76-kilometre one-way hike and runs partly along a road and partly along a forest track.

The “BTT Tol 2018” mountain-bike route combines sections of road, forest tracks and a local PR trail before descending towards Becharro. The route then descends to the villages of Piñera and Becharro and subsequently returns to Tol. History and culture

The Villa de Castropol has a historic old town with notable mansions and Indian architecture. In the immediate vicinity of Becharro, Castropol’s Corpus Christi celebration is associated with elaborate floral carpets. Local tradition places a bloody battle in Becharro in 1378 between supporters and opponents of the Bishop of Oviedo.

Pepa de Becharro, also known as Pepa de Berbesa, was one of the last traditionally documented practitioners of traditional laundry washing. A document from 1381 records a peace agreement with an amnesty granted by the Bishop of Oviedo for killings committed by both parties and is regarded as confirmation of the tradition concerning the Battle of Becharro.
