Circular Routes for Active Exploration

The „Los Caseríos de San Agustín“ circular route is designed for mountain bikes and passes through part of the municipality of San Agustín. Several hamlets and springs lie along the route. It begins and ends in San Agustín, is 23 kilometres long and has an estimated duration of 2 hours and 30 minutes.

The „Loma de los Peiros“ circular hiking route offers a different perspective. It connects natural and historic attractions in San Agustín and passes through a dense holm oak forest. Along the way, it offers panoramic views over the valley of the Mijares River.

„Circular Mas Blanco“ is 13 kilometres long and can be completed on foot or by mountain bike. The circular route begins at the Ermita de la Virgen del Loreto in the southern part of San Agustín. Along its course, it crosses the Maimona River via the Puente de Pradas, includes a detour to the Mirador de Estrellas at the entrance to San Agustín, and passes the Ermita de la Virgen del Pilar. The different lengths and starting points help you compare the routes according to your preferred duration and mode of transport.

Gorge and Forest Landscape

The Cañón del Mijares is located in the northern part of the municipality. There, the river cuts through a gorge with vertical walls more than 100 metres high.

Historic Sites Around San Agustín

The historic and monumental Pradas complex lies 2 kilometres from the town of San Agustín. The complex includes the Ermita de la Virgen de Pradas, an early Gothic chapel with a wooden roof. Beside the chapel are the ruins of the Castillo de Pradas on a small hill bordered by the Barruezo stream. The Castillo de Pradas is among the castles classified as Bienes de Interés Cultural.

Religious buildings from different periods also shape the town itself. The Iglesia de San Agustín is a Baroque building from the 17th century. The Ermita de San Agustín is a Gothic-Mudejar chapel from the 15th century. The entrance porch of the Ermita de Pradas serves as a resting area for pilgrims taking part in the Romería, held annually on a Sunday near 22 May. The Museo de las Masías y Memoria Rural focuses on the former way of life of the Masoveros.
