Nogueras turns its attention at once to built history and a diverse mountain landscape. Anyone who enjoys alternating between cultural sites, observing nature, and a longer route while travelling will find several distinct themes here. The local details range from specific architectural forms to geological traces and paths shaped by storytelling.
When planning a holiday apartment in Nogueras, it is worth taking a close look at travel dates, room category, and cancellation conditions. This information is provided on the respective offer pages, where it can be compared at your leisure. The different themes can stand alongside one another in your own travel planning: cultural sites, landscape, and a longer Sierra route each set a different focus.
Culture
The main building of the Molino consists of irregular stone-and-mortar masonry, has three storeys, and a gabled roof. The Molino was built at the beginning of the 20th century and was no longer in use in the 1950s.
From the road, the Molino can be reached via a downward-sloping path; it is located 50 metres from the village. At the exit of Nogueras are the Fuente-abrevadero and the washhouse: the spring is on one side of the road, and the washhouse on the other.
Those who explore cultural sites through their form, chronological classification, and connection to everyday life can read this information as separate points of observation.
In the wider regional surroundings of Nogueras lies the Castillo de la Morica Encantada, a castle. Torre del Palo, a fortified structure, is also located in the wider regional surroundings of Nogueras. The castle and the fortified structure thus stand alongside one another as two different historical terms.
Nature
The section of the Sierra de Herrera belonging to the Comarca del Jiloca includes Nogueras and Santa Cruz de Nogueras. This section contains some of the most significant holm oak forests in the Iberian System.
Nogueras lies in the Paleozoic core on the northern side of the mountain range; the Paleozoic sedimentary rocks there contain numerous well-preserved fossils. The Río Cámaras flows through Nogueras.
Forest, rock, and water open up different scales for viewing the landscape; you can assign different levels of importance to these three themes independently of one another.
Other places: Gúdar, Alfambra, Bronchales, Terriente, Cuevas De Cañart, Calomarde, Molinos and Camarena De La Sierra.
Local cultural sites and a longer excursion represent different forms of exploration; this comparison can help structure your daily itinerary.
Routes
An 11-kilometre excursion to the Santuario de Nuestra Señora de la Sierra de Herrera reaches the highest point of the Sierra at an elevation of 1,342 metres and leads through 800 hectares of mountain country, pine forests, and holm oak stands.
The Ermita de la Virgen de Nuestra Señora de la Sierra was built at the highest point of the Sierra because the image of the Virgin appeared there to a charcoal burner named Martín.
