Culture and village character

The historic centre of Aragüés del Puerto is dominated by houses dating from the 16th century. Around Aragüés del Puerto, bordas traditionally served as shelters for livestock and now accommodate tourists.

The Palotiau is a local Pyrenean tradition and a defining feature of Aragüés del Puerto’s identity. It combines music played on the salterio and chiflo, stick dances and theatrical elements.

The Iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Rosario was rebuilt after a fire in 1610; the work was completed in 1704. The church consists of three naves separated by cruciform pillars. The altarpiece ensemble inside reflects the development of altarpiece art in the 18th century.

Nature and mountain scenery

The Los Valles Occidentales Nature Park also includes the municipality of Aragüés del Puerto. The Aragüés Valley has a mountain climate with a distinct Atlantic influence, as well as lush forests of beech, fir, pine and yew trees.

The peaks of Punta de la Cuta, Blancas and Pico de la Magdalena, as well as Mount Bisaurín, lie in the immediate surroundings of Aragüés del Puerto.

In the wider region around Aragüés del Puerto are the Museo Diocesano de Jaca - Arte Románico, Fuerte Rapitán, a monument, the Ciudadela, a monument, and the Monasterio Nuevo de San Juan de la Peña.
