Holiday apartment in Robidišče between the Juliana Trail and Venetian architecture
Robidišče lies on the right bank of the Nadiža. The 14.6-kilometre stage 13B of the Juliana Trail offers a tangible combination of landscape, activity and local history: it begins in Breginj, crosses the Nadiža, leads through Robidišče to Podbela and passes the historic stone Napoleon Bridge along the way. The local road to Robidišče also runs through the Nadiža gorges and past the stone Napoleon Bridge.
Hiking and trails
Traditional architecture can also be seen in Robidišče.
Cycling
The surrounding area can also be explored by bicycle via several routes described in different ways. The 44.6-kilometre, moderately difficult Kobarid–Breginj–Robidišče–Podbela–Kobarid cycling loop also follows the Nadiža. In addition, a 23.7-kilometre, moderately difficult circular route runs from Robidišče via Čenebola to Prosnid and back; it is suitable for e-bikes as well as more demanding trekking and gravel bikes.
The “Exploring Veneto by Bicycle” cycle route is described as a challenging cross-border route with three climbs between Robidišče, Prosnid, Logje and Breginj. It offers historical, botanical, geological and architectural experiences. The various routes therefore connect specific place names with different themes, without having the same lengths and difficulty levels.
Architecture and history
The Venetian-Slovenian houses in Robidišče form rows of buildings made from hewn stone blocks. They include external masonry staircases and wooden exterior corridors known as ganki. After the earthquake, Venetian architecture was preserved in Robidišče despite reconstruction work that remained incomplete.
A particularly vivid historic building is the more than 300-year-old Vančeva House. It can be visited; its interiors and black kitchen have remained almost unchanged. The Mediterranean black kitchen of Vančeva House and parts of the preserved interior furnishings are considered rare in Slovenia. The centre of Robidišče, including a korito, was also captured in photographs in 1951. In 1951, Kajancovi was also home to a cauldron used for making cheese outdoors.
Local traditions
The family cheesemaking tradition is continued at Turistična kmetija Robidišče. Sheep are kept there today, and cheesemaking still takes place without pasteurising the milk.
Museums and galleries can be visited in Robidišče. For connection K3, a route via Kobarid, Podbela, Robidišče and Breginj is recorded; Robidišče is listed as a stop with the stated travel times.
