Četena Ravan: Holiday Apartment, Culture and Hiking Trails

Četena Ravan is home to the branch church of St. Briccius, dedicated to Saint Briccius. It is a cultural monument of local significance. Its construction history spans the first quarter of the 16th century, the 18th century, the year 1798 and the last quarter of the 19th century.

Culture

The history of the settlement also dates back to the Middle Ages. At that time, four farms and a one-third share of a farm were established; all were subordinate to the loško gospostvo. Četena Ravan is also associated with the Slavicist Gregor Krek, who was born here on 8 March 1840.

Hiking

Several trails connect Četena Ravan with the surrounding starting points and destinations. A marked themed trail leads from Četena Ravan past St. Briccius Church in the direction of Grebljica. In the opposite direction, the Pot Med gorami trail descends from the Grebljica starting point at Stari vrh towards Četena Ravan and branches off above St. Briccius Church.

The municipal hiking route from Poljane nad Škofjo Loko to Črni Kal passes through Četena Ravan and over Stari vrh. Every year, a guided hike along the Pot Med gorami trail takes place on the first Sunday in August at 8 a.m. Another guided hike on the Valentinova pot follows on 31 October. This trail descends in the direction of Četena Ravan to St. Briccius Church, which has a newly restored altar.

A hiking trail from Javorje to St. Briccius Church passes through Četena Ravan via a short, steep footpath to the church. In the immediate vicinity, the trail from Četena Ravan to the Stari vrh family adventure park also leads through the area.

Cycling

The published Loška kolesarska pot route also runs through Četena Ravan between Zapreval and Murave. It consists of well-marked cycling routes with a total length of 390 kilometres and is divided into 13 stages. The Gabrška gora mountain bike route descends to the hamlet of Četena Ravan.

Regional Cuisine

At Četena Ravan, Kmetija Pri Tavčarju prepares local specialties for guests. These include stew, žganci and štruklji, as well as koline in winter. Kmetija Pr' Ožbet is one of the tourist farms that may offer drobnjakovi štruklji na žup on the menu for guests.
