The Meteorite Trail begins in Javorje, with a replica of the meteorite found standing at its starting point. The trail leads to the place where the meteorite fell to Earth. A guided hike takes place on the Meteorite Trail every April, starting at 10 a.m. in Javorje.

Hiking and trails

The Javorje–Žetina–Javorje hiking trail also starts in Javorje: its starting point is at a car park in front of Gostilna Blegoš. The route is considered somewhat longer, but by no means difficult. A guided hike takes place on this trail every year on June 25 at 9 a.m., starting in front of Gostilna Blegoš. The starting point, route and two fixed dates give the hiking opportunities around Javorje a clearly recognizable structure.

The 390-kilometre Loška Cycle Route runs through Četena Ravan, Murave, Javorje and Poljane nad Škofjo Loko. Javorje is therefore included in the route of this long-distance cycling trail.

Landscape

Several mountains are located in the surroundings of Javorje. Blegoš is in the immediate vicinity. Lubnik, Pasja Ravan and Kosmati Vrh are also located in the surrounding area.

Culture

Javorje is home to several independent examples of sacred art. The three altars in the Church of sv. Tilna in Javorje pri Poljanah were created by Štefan Šubic in 1888–1889. The chapel in Javorje houses a Gothic Pietà dating from around 1440 and is decorated with frescoes by Štefan Šubic from 1861.

Another church also bears the name sv. Tilna: the Church of sv. Tilna in Javorje pri Delnicah is designated as a local cultural monument. It was originally Gothic and was remodelled in the Baroque style around 1710. The two churches with the same name thus represent different historical and artistic classifications: Štefan Šubic’s works from the 19th century stand alongside Gothic elements and the later Baroque remodelling, each with its own connection to Javorje.

The wider regional surroundings of Javorje contain several cultural and historical sites: the ancient site of Ajdovski Gradec, the museum site Emona House Archaeological Park, Ljubljana Castle and the Prešeren monument. Ajdovski Gradec is an ancient site, Emona House Archaeological Park is a museum site, Ljubljana Castle is a castle and the Prešeren monument is a monument.
