Spodnja Sorica combines cultural history with trails leading into the mountains. Grohar’s House houses the memorial collection dedicated to Grohar and a gallery. The Sorica Theme Path conveys the history and legends of the village to visitors and is signposted with information boards.

Culture

Sorica’s cultural heritage includes an old dialect, field names, the cultural landscape and architecture from the historic settlement tradition. The church in Sorica also preserves several notable testimonies: the most important work of art is a ceiling fresco of the Last Supper by Janez Šubic from Poljane. A church in Sorica was first mentioned in the land register in 1501. The church in Sorica acquired its present Baroque appearance in the 18th century.

Hello fall has been Sorica’s most important cultural and ethnological event for more than twenty years. Hello fall presents the drying and pressing of fruit, wool production and sheep shearing, hunting customs, traditional dishes, local music, folk songs and historical exhibitions. Traditionally, Hello fall takes place on the second weekend of September as a two-day event in Sorica.

At the music workshops, each participant receives an instrument; at the end, everyone plays together in a percussion orchestra. Sorica also has a tourism tradition of more than one hundred years.

Nature

A walk through Spodnja Sorica begins in front of Grohar’s House. Marked mountain trails lead from Sorica to the nearby peaks of Porezen, Črna Prst, Lajnar and Ratitovec. The marked trail is located on the edge of the village. It takes about 15 minutes from the road to the waterfall. The trail leads through tall trees to a bench with a wide view over the lower part of the village and the surrounding hills.

Near Sorica lies the Soriška Planina ski resort, with 10 km of ski runs, five ski lifts, a ski school and ski rental.
