Dobrovo is the center of the Brda wine-growing region. The town combines a historically significant castle with wine experiences, festivals and a hiking trail that starts and ends in Dobrovo. Culture

The Renaissance building of Dobrovo Castle was constructed at the beginning of the 17th century on the site of a 13th-century castle. The castle houses the exhibition “LANDSCAPES OF BODIES,” featuring graphic works by Zoran Mušič. It is also home to a chapel dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua. The chapel is decorated with original and recreated Gothic frescoes from northern Primorska. The castle thus brings together architectural history, sacred furnishings and modern art, even though the individual elements do not belong to the same period.

Dobrovo Castle also offers a VR headset experience about the Kožbanjšček Gorge.

The traditional “Cherry Festival” takes place in Dobrovo every June. The 60th anniversary edition of the “Praznik češenj,” held at Dobrovo Castle on June 6 and 7, includes a traditional ethnographic wagon procession as well as stalls offering local specialties and handcrafted artisan products.

Nature

The Brda Hiking Trail – Črnica starts in front of Dobrovo Castle and ends in Dobrovo. Its route is therefore clearly defined by its two location references: the starting point is in front of the castle, while the endpoint is within Dobrovo.

Cuisine

Various wine tastings are offered in the tasting room at Klet Brda, along with guided tours of the wine cellar. A visit to the wine cellar is part of Klet Brda’s visitor offerings. In addition, Klet Brda offers a 60-minute escape room for groups of four to six people; advance booking is required.
