Holiday apartment in Pristava: Rafut Park and Villa Laščak

Rafut Park is protected both as a natural asset and as cultural heritage.

Culture

Before the First World War, Anton Laščak built a villa in Pristava in the neo-oriental style. Villa Laščak was completed on Rafut Hill in 1914 and is considered unique in Slovenia and the surrounding region. A picturesque path leads from the gatehouse through Rafut Park up to Villa Laščak. The park is located in Pristava near Nova Gorica. Visitors can stroll there among valuable mature trees and exotic plants to a unique villa in the neo-oriental style.

The cultural offerings also include the “Na šverc! Smuggling in the Goriška region after the Second World War” exhibition. It is housed in the premises of the former small border crossing in Pristava and deals with smuggling in the Goriška region after the Second World War, including the smuggling of goods between Italy and Slovenia or Yugoslavia. The “Na šverc!” exhibition includes an escape room that introduces visitors to the subject of smuggling in a playful way.

Kostanjevica Monastery regularly offers expert presentations of its Church of the Annunciation, the Škrabec Library, the crypt of the French Bourbon royal family, the sacred cultural and historical heritage of the monastery as a whole, and the Bourbon rose collection in the rose garden. The crypt of the church at Kostanjevica Monastery contains the graves of the last members of the French Bourbon royal family.

Nature

The Walk of Peace also connects the landscape around Pristava with Nova Gorica: on the other side of the hill, it leads down to Nova Gorica and back to Trg Evrope or Piazza della Transalpina.

Geographical context

The immediate surroundings of Pristava include the Museo Provinciale Palazzo Attems, a museum; Castello di Gorizia, a castle; and Palazzo Arcivescovile and Palazzo Coronini Cronberg, both palaces. Thus, in addition to Pristava’s distinctive features, the surrounding area also offers a museum, a castle, and palaces.

The wider regional surroundings of Pristava include the Karlhöhe summit, Mount Trstelj, Mount Jelenk, and the Veliki Rob summit. This geographical context broadens the view beyond Rafut Hill and the immediate surroundings without conflating the different regional connections.
