Holiday apartment in Pernica: Lake Perniško, trails and culture
Lake Perniško is located directly beside the town center of Pernica. It is an important biotope for waterfowl and serves as a resting place for some rare migratory birds. This means that the experience of the landscape begins directly at a distinctive body of water in the town.
Nature
The artificial lakes Pernica I and II cover a total of approximately 90 hectares and stretch between the settlements of Vosek and Vukovje. At Lake Perniško, a path runs between the upper and lower ponds. This path is 4 km long, takes approximately 90 minutes including stops, and is suitable for everyone. The path around Lake Perniško also offers the opportunity to observe waterfowl and birds in areas along the shore. The body of water is suitable for fishing, but not for swimming.
Trails and activities
The Pernica–Jakobska cycling trail begins in Pernica by the chestnut tree near Gostilna Kramberger. It is 33 km long and generally less demanding. The Perniška hiking route starts at the cooperative building in the center of Pernica and offers three variants. At 25 km in length, it can be completed in approximately eight hours.
Along its route, the Perniška hiking trail passes the Šušteršič homestead, a well-known vineyard worker’s house with a thatched roof. Because of its varied terrain, the route is suitable for recreational athletes. Horse riding is also offered along the Perniška hiking route at KK “Zlata horda”.
The differing information on length and duration makes the three trails readable as excursions of different scopes. For the lakeside path, the time is explicitly stated as including stops; for the hiking route, an approximate walking time is given alongside the distance. This makes it possible to consider the described types of trails according to their respective time requirements.
Culture
The Church of Saint Margaret in Pernica was first mentioned in 1361. The present church building dates from 1567. The bell tower, erected in 1670, preserves two fragments of ancient gravestones embedded in its wall.
Culinary delights
At Protner Farm, visitors can see a herd of fallow deer. The farm offers meat from Zaseka, venison salami, cooked sausage and gibanica.
