Limbuš combines viticulture, historic traces, paths and waterways to create a diverse local landscape. Meranovo is particularly distinctive: it is located on Prinčev vrh above Limbuš, is a centre for research in viticulture and winemaking, and has a gene bank with more than 400 different grape varieties.

Wine

Meranovo offers organised wine tastings for groups of 10 to 50 people. These include a guided tour of the estate and a visit to the hybrid exhibition “Archduke Johann, Father of Meranovo”. This brings viticulture, winemaking and the history of the place together at a specific site.

Culture

The history of Limbuš can be seen in several preserved or documented places. The original Gothic church in Limbuš was built around 1300 and was first mentioned in writing in 1387. The Kronane glave Chapel houses the famous Grozdni Altar from the early 18th century.

Limbuš Castle stood on Grajski grič above the village of Limbuš in the Municipality of Maribor. Today, only castle ruins overgrown with green hills are visible at Limbuš Castle. The castle complex of Limbuš has been protected as an immovable monument of local importance since 8 April 1992.

On Foot and by Bike

The Pot na Meranovo hiking trail begins in Limbuš at the junction of Ob Blažovnici and Pod gričem streets. Pot na Meranovo is a 3.7-kilometre, approximately one-hour hike of lower difficulty. It crosses the hill where Lembach Castle once stood, then continues along the Vrhov Dol ridge to Meranovo, offering beautiful views along the way.

There is also a cycling route: BIKE Maribor is a circular cycling route through Maribor and the surrounding settlements. The BIKE Maribor route runs along existing local and urban roads, public paths and cycle paths, as well as partly along cycle paths beside national roads.

Water and Landscape

At the Drava Center in Limbuš, kayaks, canoes, SUP boards and rowing boats are available for hire. Lake Maribor is designated as a protected landscape park. Sailing, surfing and rowing are possible on Lake Maribor.

The southern shore of Lake Maribor is largely forested and has shallow areas that are considered interesting habitats along the water. The contact address of the Lake Maribor Landscape Park is Limbuško nabrežje, 2341 Limbuš.
