Holiday apartment in Labor – St. Martin's Church and cycling route

St. Martin's Church in Labor is a sacred architectural heritage site. At the same time, Labor is a settlement monument of settlement heritage. On the outskirts of Labor, near the cemetery, stands the single-nave St. Martin's Church. The building's bell tower was erected in 1841, while the church itself was renovated in 1892. Near the main altar there is a painting of Saint Martin. There is also an interesting stone bridge on the old path below Labor. Nature

Below Labor, the population of Marchesetti's eyebright (Euphrasia marchesettii) occurs at a completely natural, eroded flysch site. The scientific name refers to a clearly identifiable plant species; at the same time, the natural, eroded flysch site is described precisely. The larger vineyard of an agricultural cooperative, which developed near Labor, also belongs to the village's immediate surroundings. Thus, a botanical site and a vineyard represent two different aspects of the surroundings, without combining them into a single landscape form.

The “Autumn Views from Krkavče to Boršt and Back” cycling route passes through Labor. An unpaved descent from Labor towards Škrline is very steep and technically demanding. Good technical preparation is required for the section of the cycling route from Labor to the Dragonja Valley. The route connects several named places, while each of the two sections has its own route characteristics. Thus, on the same route, both the section running through Labor and two differently described challenges along the way stand out.

Local character

At the entrance to Labor is the Istrape Distillery, which produces traditionally crafted pomace brandies and other distillates. Its products include Trapa Malvasia, Trapa Refosco, grape-pomace-based gin and various liqueurs. Products can be purchased at the distillery; guided tastings can be attended by prior arrangement. Thus, the production site, specific products and visitor opportunities are all combined there.
