The Šulekovský poznávací okruh is designed as a circular trail with four stations and introduces visitors to the history of Beregseg–Šulekovo. Its starting point is the Šulek-Holuby Monument; the circular trail is approximately 2,900 metres long in total.

Culture

The Šulek-Holuby Monument in Šulekovo dates from 21 October 1928. The local architecture also includes the Osloboditeľov road bridge. It is an immovable cultural monument in the Secession style. The Christ the King Church in Šulekovo was built in 1935 to a design by the architect Michal Milan Harminc. The church has three naves and ends in a polygonal presbytery. The church is in good condition and is used for its intended purpose.

The local architecture thus combines a dated monument, a bridge in the Secession style, and a 20th-century church building with a varied architectural form.

History

Graves from a Hallstatt-period cremation cemetery were found in the cadastral area of Šulekovo. Evidence of a Slavic cemetery and a Slavic settlement dating from the 9th and 10th centuries was also discovered there.

Landscape

Šulekovo lies on the floodplain deposits of the Váh River in the Danube Lowland. The cycling connection also follows the river area: a 90-metre-long connection leads from Osloboditeľov and Priemyselná streets to the Váh flood protection embankment. The street names and the embankment are part of the described connection within Šulekovo.

The river location and the named street references mark different spatial aspects within Šulekovo.

Tradition

Over a period of 50 years, programmes featuring authentic songs and stories were created to document the lives of ancestors in Šulekovo, formerly Bereseg, and in the Hlohovec region. The Folklórna skupina Šulekovo took part in these programmes. A specific event held in 2026 was the Šulekovská fašiangová zabíjačka. It featured a tasting of traditional slaughter specialities as well as mulled wine and hot tea with the Folklórna skupina Šulekovo.

When choosing a holiday apartment in Šulekovo, you can consider the focal areas of history, culture, landscape, and tradition separately. Which perspective takes precedence depends on your own travel preferences. Some travellers want to understand the place through a historical circular trail, while others focus on buildings, archaeological traces, the river area, or regional traditions. These different interests can be set alongside one another as personal criteria for choosing the location.

When planning a stay in a holiday apartment in Šulekovo, the different connections to the location can serve as a separate framework for your visit. The Šulekovský poznávací okruh, the Christ the King Church, the Osloboditeľov road bridge, and the Váh represent different themes that can be given separate weight in your personal travel planning. Your choice can be guided by your own ideas about culture, history, landscape, and tradition, as well as by how much space these topics should receive during your stay. This keeps the stated focal areas clearly distinguishable from one another rather than combining them into a single image of the place.
