Madunice combines cultural monuments located close to one another with the Váh River, a biocorridor and a signposted cycle route. In the town centre stands the Roman Catholic Church of the Nativity of Mary, Queen of Angels, which is protected as a national cultural monument. Its older Renaissance core forms part of its architectural history; from 1799 to 1806, the church was built on the site of an earlier house of worship.
Culture
Behind the church in the town centre is a sculptural group depicting Saints Wendelin, Rochus and Florian. It, too, is a national cultural monument. The municipality of Madunice had the group erected in 1839. In the park opposite the church stands the Ján Hollý memorial, also a national cultural monument. The larger-than-life sandstone statue was created by the academic sculptor Vincent Vosmik and unveiled in 1923.
The historic heritage also includes the Ján Hollý memorial parish house. It is a national cultural monument and can be dated back to 1650.
Nature
The Váh River crosses the cadastral territory of Madunice and forms part of a nationwide biocorridor there. The Váh biocorridor and the local gravel pits of Madunice are jointly classified as valuable natural complexes. The river, biocorridor and gravel pits therefore form the described landscape features of the town, creating a second thematic focus alongside the historic town centre.
There are opportunities for fishing on the Váh River in Madunice. Hunting is possible at the local gravel pits. The two activities remain tied to their respective natural areas: fishing relates to the river, while hunting relates to the gravel pits.
Cycle route
The Vážska cyklomagistrála runs southeast of Madunice. Along its route, it passes the Madunice hydroelectric power plant and several gravel pits. The route thus connects the town with prominent points in the described surroundings and complements the nature-related information with a specific cycling connection.
The route described therefore connects several landscape features in the southeastern surroundings without equating the individual reference points: the hydroelectric power plant and the gravel pits remain separate points along the Vážska cyklomagistrála. Together with the Váh biocorridor, they create a spatial connection between the watercourse, natural complexes and cycle route.
Events
On 18 July 2026, the municipality of Madunice held the 13th Gulášmajster competition, a public cooking competition. The 34th edition of Vatra zvrchovanosti was also announced in Madunice for the same date, 18 July 2026. Both names belong to the municipality's listed event dates; the announced status of Vatra zvrchovanosti remains unchanged.
When choosing a holiday apartment in Madunice, the information provided in the individual listing is important.
