Holiday apartment in Jalšové – hiking trails, nature and Romanesque rotunda

Jalšové combines marked hiking trails with forested slopes, the Teplá studňa thermal spring and Kostol sv. Ducha, a church with a Romanesque rotunda.

Trails and events

The marked hiking trail 8147 leads from Jalšové to Ovčia skala and is 3.1 km long. A considerably longer route was offered by the JARNÝ POCHOD HP in 2026: it ran for 13 km from Hlohovec via Ovčia skala to Jalšové. In the same year, this march was held for the 48th time. Both routes pass through Ovčia skala, but differ in length and event format.

On hiking trail 8147, Jalšové is at one end of the route, while Ovčia skala forms the other endpoint. The JARNÝ POCHOD HP, by contrast, names Hlohovec as the starting point and Jalšové as the destination; Ovčia skala lies between them along this route. The figures of 3.1 km and 13 km therefore refer to two different routes. They describe neither the same section of trail nor the same event format.

Another recurring hiking connection is the annual Jesenný pochod Hlohovec–Piešťany. The hiking route of this march starts in Jalšové. The route of the Bike4you Hlohovec–Poniklec MTB marathon passes through Jalšové.

The Jesenný pochod already indicates the connection between Hlohovec and Piešťany in its name and names Jalšové as the starting point of the hiking route. The Bike4you marathon route also passes through the village, but belongs to a different event format and is designated as an MTB marathon. Thus, Jalšové has hiking routes with different itineraries alongside a mountain-bike route.

Nature

Jalšové lies at the transition between the southern foothills of the Považský Inovec and the Považská spur of the Danubian Lowland. The geographic location is complemented by the forested slopes in the village. These consist of thermophilous oak-hornbeam stands and give the landscape a clearly identifiable natural character.

Culture

Kostol sv. Ducha, the Church of the Holy Spirit, is a church with a Romanesque rotunda. The building was erected in the first half of the 13th century. It is located on a hilltop within the grounds of a former castle site that no longer exists. The rotunda, the medieval date of construction and the hilltop location are three closely connected features of this church site.

The Romanesque rotunda is therefore not separate, but stands within the grounds of the former castle site that no longer exists.

The church thus has a clearly identified architectural form, a chronological classification and a specific location. The name Kostol sv. Ducha refers to the Holy Spirit; the Romanesque rotunda describes the form of the building. The dating to the first half of the 13th century and the location on the hilltop within the grounds of the former castle site that no longer exists supplement these two details.

Geographic location

Road II/507 passes through Jalšové. It connects Piešťany with Hlohovec and thus provides a connection between these two places.
