Discover Dvorníky: Culture, Winegrowing and Nature

Dvorníky is home to the single-nave Baroque-Classical Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. It was built in 1788 on the site of an earlier church that had already been mentioned in 1559.

Culture and History

Another historical feature is a barn dating from 1761 with a separate cellar built into the hillside. In 2021, it was declared a national cultural monument.

Traditional folk crafts in Dvorníky include dolls and nativity scenes made from corn husks. Easter eggs are also decorated with glued-on straw ornaments.

The village's sculptural monuments include a roadside statue of Saint Vendelin dating from the 19th century.

In Posádka stands Hrádok, a motte dating from the 13th to 14th century and a national cultural monument. Posádka is also home to a bell tower from the 1870s.

Nature

The Dubník National Nature Reserve extends into the cadastral area of Dvorníky. It covers 165.19 hectares and is protected at level 4.

The reserve protects a rare and isolated remnant of a natural forest community, an ornithological locality of the Eurasian scops owl (Otus scops), as well as protected plant species.

Trails and Activities

The green cycling route 5212 Hlohovec–Sereď passes through Dvorníky. The paved recreational cycling route is 20.8 kilometres long and classified as easy.

The educational trail through the vineyards of Hlohovec runs through Dvorníky and Posádka. It is 22.3 kilometres long, self-guided, open year-round and accessible in both directions. Seven stations focus on winegrowing and history.

The surroundings of the Váh and the adjacent remnants of floodplain forests in the area of Dvorníky offer some opportunities for hiking and cycling.

Winegrowing is considered a centuries-old tradition in Dvorníky. The municipal coat of arms features a hoe, a grape and a pruning knife in reference to it.

Every autumn, a wine tasting with a feast takes place in Dvorníky.

At the autumn festival, burčiak, goose meat and blue cheese are consumed.
