Culture

In the village square of Košúty stands the neo-Romanesque Roman Catholic Church of St. Florian. It was built between 1849 and 1851 with the support of Bishop Michal Fekete. A painting of Saint Florian has been preserved inside the church. There are also 14 Stations of the Cross paintings from the early 20th century. The church thus combines its construction in the mid-19th century with preserved furnishings from a later period. The dating of the furnishings adds to the building history: In addition to the preserved painting of Florian, the 14 Stations of the Cross representations belong to a later period. This means that both the origins of the church building and a more recent layer of its furnishings can be identified at the same location.

The mausoleum of the Kiss family is located in the cemetery of Košúty. In the wider regional area, the Chapel of St. John the Evangelist is one of the rare types of religious architecture. The church, mausoleum and chapel represent different forms of religious building and commemorative culture: a house of worship in the village square, a family memorial site in the cemetery and an architecturally rare chapel in the wider regional area.

History

A Neolithic settlement is located in Košúty. The Neoclassical manor house in Košúty dates from 1898. It is currently used as a social services facility for adults. Košúty therefore brings together archaeological traces, a 19th-century building and a present-day social use. The history of the village consequently encompasses both early settlement and the architectural development of the modern era, as well as a current use of the manor house. The year 1898 clearly places the manor house chronologically after the Neolithic settlement. Its current use as a social services facility for adults describes the present status of the building, not its original function.

Village Life

The local cultural life includes the women's and men's singing group GYÖNGYKALÁRIS at the local Csemadok association and the singing group NÁDEJ at the local Matica slovenská association. The two groups have different names and are each affiliated with their own local association. GYÖNGYKALÁRIS is designated as a women's and men's singing group, while NÁDEJ is listed as a singing group. Both ensembles are therefore clearly connected with local club life without having the same organizational designation.

Nature

In Košúty, the park by the playground and the park by the municipal office have been designated as protected areas. The two parks are distinguished from each other by their respective locations in the village. Excursions into the surrounding nature are offered for more experienced visitors.
