Culture and History

The architectural history begins with the Kuffner family castle. It dates from the 17th century and was rebuilt in 1885. The Roman Catholic church in Sládkovičovo also dates from the early 17th century. Its architectural history includes alterations in 1736, 1786 and 1845.

Another distinctive feature is the Mária Mill, which was built near Sládkovičovo in 1912 as a representative industrial building, even though its function was purely utilitarian. The main building has a T-shaped floor plan. Its stair tower supports a water tank and is topped by a tall hipped roof. The Sládkovičovo sugar factory complex included a boiler house, warehouses, workshops, stables, a boiling house, a sugar refinery and a sugar warehouse.

Thus, this thematic area brings together private architectural history, ecclesiastical architecture and industrial utilitarian buildings. The different building types show that the town's history is not limited to a single monument, but encompasses several forms of construction and economic activity.

Tradition and Taste

The cultural side is also reflected in recurring events and traditional specialities. The Sládkovičovské Cultural Days are a tradition that connects generations. The International Sausage Festival in Sládkovičovo has already been held for the tenth time.

The local sausage tradition dates back to settlers from Pitvaroš who arrived here in 1947. This identifies a specific connection between the town's history, migration and regional food culture in addition to the buildings. The event and the speciality represent different forms of the same local heritage.

Nature and Trails

Sládkovičovský Park is a protected area designated in 1983; it is subject to the fourth level of protection. Some of its paths retain their historic routes. Thus, both the protection status and the historic layout of the paths are among the park's described features.

Sládkovičovská Dune is listed under Galanta in the official Slovak list of protected areas. It can be reached on foot or by bicycle.

The Vincov les complex includes water slides as well as a covered children's pool and a covered relaxation pool. These facilities operate all day. The Vincov les thermal spa has a swimming pool, two relaxation pools, a recreation pool and a children's pool; the children's pool is out of service.
