Sádočné: Holiday apartment amid nature, culture and MTB
Sádočné is located in the Strážovské vrchy mountain range, in the midst of the Domanižská Basin. Forested mixed-forest hills line the area, including Šalovina and Sádocký vrch. Between protected habitats, historical traces and a designated MTB route, the village reveals itself through several characteristic facets.
Nature
The cadastral area of Sádočné belongs to the Strážovské vrchy Protected Landscape Area (CHKO Strážovské vrchy). It was established to protect distinctive landforms, gorges, ridges, erosion basins and biological diversity. The area is characterized by species-rich limestone flora with thermophilous Pannonian as well as montane and alpine Carpathian species. Sádočné is also part of a Natura 2000 site.
Several specifically designated areas complement this landscape. GL 119 Pod Žatkovou includes a 3.91-hectare dry meadow in the cadastral area of Sádočné; yellow flax, monkey orchid, red-backed shrike and smooth snake are listed as protected species for this area. GL 121 Panský háj covers 2.18 hectares and extends across the cadastral areas of Sádočné and Domaniža. The area includes a dry meadow and an open pine forest; monkey orchid and military orchid are listed there as protected species.
GL 122 Niva Domanižanky includes Sádočné and preserves 7.47 hectares of ash and alder floodplain forest at the foot of the mountains, connected to a natural watercourse. European tree frogs, common frogs, common redstarts, Eurasian otters, kingfishers and white-throated dippers are listed as protected species for this area. Yew, pasqueflower, gentian, brown bear, lynx, capercaillie and fire salamander also occur in the cadastral area of Sádočné.
Water
The Domanižanka watercourse is a water-management-significant body of water, and Sádočné belongs to its catchment area. There are also five Category I and II water sources in the area of Sádočné. Thus, alongside the dry limestone and meadow habitats, floodplain forest and natural watercourses stand as independent landscape elements.
Culture and history
Hradisko Sádočné is a hilltop settlement of the Púchov culture dating from the La Tène period. The hillfort was declared a national cultural monument in 1968. Hradisko Sádočné lies between Sádočné and Domaniža. In the center of Sádočné, a chapel stands on the main road. The former inn is also part of the historic building stock, a historically valuable Baroque building from the second half of the 18th century.
Cycling
The blue MTB cycling route no. 2304 between Čelkova Lehota and Domaniža runs through Sádočné. It is designated as a 20-kilometer sports MTB route with elevation figures of 208/151 meters.
