Holiday apartment in Ladice between Tribeč and the Žitava hill country

Ladice stretches in a semicircular shape along both banks of the Drevenica stream. The village lies at an elevation of 160 to 400 m on the southeastern foothills of the Tribeč, at the transition to the Žitava hill country. These geographical features shape the setting of a place where the landscape, traditional architectural forms and regional culture exist closely alongside one another.

Culture

The Roman Catholic All Saints’ Church in Ladice contains a Gothic bell dated 1315. Today, it is displayed on a pedestal inside the church. The church itself was rebuilt in the Baroque style, renovated around 1790, and restored and redecorated again at the beginning of the 20th century.

On a vineyard hill on the Tekov side of Ladice stands a stone statue of Saint Urban dating from 1834. It is set on a tall column that tapers towards the top. Another testament to local everyday life is the former Catholic school building, which now serves as a museum with numerous historical exhibits.

The historic village landscape also includes Folk House No. 100 and the cemetery. The folk house dates from the 19th century, is made of unfired bricks, plastered and whitewashed, and has a three-part floor plan. The cemetery contains seven carved wooden tombstones from the 19th century, as well as several cast-iron tombstones.

History

At the lower end of Ladice stands the stone remnant of a square pillar, probably part of a monument. According to local tradition, it dates from the period of the Ottoman occupation and commemorates a canon of Nitra and his entourage. The Turkish Monument in Ladice is connected with the attack by an Ottoman troop on the procession of a canon of the Nitra Chapter in the immediate vicinity of Ladice, shortly after the Battle of Veľké Vozokany in 1652.

The development of the Hajnalkert folklore ensemble is also connected with the preservation of folk traditions. It was founded in 1969 initially as a women’s choir; men joined a year later, and a folklore ensemble subsequently developed from it. Its repertoire includes various folk songs, traditional customs and the ladder dance typical of Ladice. The ensemble takes part every year in numerous events in Slovakia, Hungary and Austria.

Hiking and trails

The green-marked hiking trail 5129 connects Oponice and Ladice. Along its route, it passes stops 4 to 9 of the Kostoliansky educational trail. This connects two named places with a designated section of the educational trail.

At the tourist signpost “Ladice, OcÚ”, a section of the trail crosses the Drevenica over a bridge. The signpost is located at an elevation of 196 m, and parking is available. The easy section is 0.2 km long and takes approximately 3 minutes.

Transport connections

Bus route 407414 is relevant for regional connections. It connects Zlaté Moravce with Kostoľany pod Tríbečom; this connection is listed in the timetable period from 1 August to 12 December 2026. In Ladice, the route serves four stops: “Ladice, železničná zastávka”, “Ladice, PD”, “Ladice, kostol” and “Ladice, domovina”.
