More than 2,300 plant species from various parts of the world, particularly East Asia, Korea and North America, grow in Mlyňany Arboretum. The grounds extend across the municipal territories of Tesárske Mlyňany and Vieska nad Žitavou and cover 67 hectares. The main walking route through Mlyňany Arboretum is 4.5 kilometres long. This combines an internationally diverse plant world with a clearly defined route within an expansive area.
Sacred Sites
The Church of the Annunciation of the Lord in Tesárske Mlyňany is a single-nave Baroque church built between 1760 and 1763 in place of an older, presumably Romanesque sacred building, and redesigned in the Classical style in 1804. Its main altar is Late Baroque and dates from 1760–1770. The parish church of Tesárske Mlyňany also has Baroque side altars from the 18th century, originating from Svätý Beňadik, now Hronský Beňadík.
A Calvary ensemble stands on the grounds of the parish church of Tesárske Mlyňany. The Chapel of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is also part of the local religious history. It has an open front because it is used for pilgrimages and was built in 1994 on the occasion of the 85th anniversary of the pilgrimages to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Tesáre. Tesárske Mlyňany is associated with a pilgrimage and devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
In the Mlyňany district of Tesárske Mlyňany stands a Late Classical cemetery chapel built in 1841. The cemetery contains a Classical chapel dating from 1779. Both structures complement the picture of sacred architecture with independent historical testimonies.
Local History
The Tesárske Mlyňany Municipal Museum was ceremonially opened on 8 September 2012. Through exhibits and photographs, it provides insights into the local past as well as the former life and traditions of the municipality. Thus, alongside the churches and chapels, the history of everyday community life is also brought into focus.
