Holiday apartment in Beladice: manor houses, ceramic art and cycling route

Beladice is located in the Danubian Lowland on the Žitava Upland. The Drevenica stream flows through the village; it rises below the Tribeč Mountains and flows into the Žitava River.

Landscape and Cultural Monuments

The Szentiványi Manor House was extensively remodeled in 1874 for O. Sentiváni according to plans by V. Balogh, in a romantic neo-Baroque and Neoclassical style. The main façade faces the park, while the ground floor retains coffered ceilings and wooden wall paneling. The park surrounding Szentiványi Manor House contains rare deciduous trees, especially linden and poplar trees. It also contains a mausoleum of the Szentiványi family dating from 1874.

Park Hotel Tartuf and the manor house together form a protected cultural monument. The park by the manor house is registered as an immovable national cultural monument under number ÚZPF 1397/2; the protected features include, in particular, the park’s trees and shrubs.

Art in the Manor House

The Natural Gallery of Art Ceramics is located in Pustý Chotár Manor House in Beladice. The manor house was built around 1820 by the noble Jesenský family. Inside, a faience fireplace in the form of a pseudo-Renaissance sideboard dating from the 1890s has been preserved. Pustý Chotár Manor House and its original park were extensively reconstructed and renovated from 1998 to 2003.

The Natural Gallery of Art Ceramics is open free of charge to tourists and the general public. The International Ceramics Workshop began in 1999 on the grounds of the protected Pustý Chotár Manor House. By 2009, a total of eight workshops had been held, with more than 50 artists from 22 countries.

Churches and Sacred Buildings

The present parish church of Saint John of Nepomuk in Veľké Chrašťany was built from 1795 to 1804. A first church had already stood on the site of the present one; it was built in 1332 and destroyed by Turkish raids. The Chapel of the Holy Cross stands in Malé Chrašťany. The Ramplet family had it built in 1863 as a family burial chapel; in the 1980s, it was adapted for religious services.

In front of House No. 17 stands a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk, a popular Baroque work dating from 1766. In Pustý Chotár, the Church of Our Lady of Fatima was consecrated on October 22, 2000. The initial construction work began on February 25, 1994. The Sirániovský Manor House in Veľké Chrašťany forms a marked contrast: it is a two-story Neoclassical building from the late 18th century and is currently abandoned and in a state of ruin.

Cycling Route

The Dolnožitavská Cycling Route leads to Beladice. It is 43 km long and has an elevation gain of 77 meters. According to the route description, it is suitable for road bikes and mountain bikes.
