Holiday apartment in Veľký Cetín – cycle paths, history and wine

Veľký Cetín lies on the eastern bank of the Cetínka River and combines distinctive landscape features with cycle paths and a multifaceted local history. The Ponitrianska Cycle Route, Route 019, passes through Veľký Cetín. Below the dam, it continues to Veľký Cetín and then returns to the river dam.

Cycling

A short section is formed by Route 8131 Paňa–Veľký Cetín. This 4.3-kilometre, easy road cycling route, suitable for recreation, has an asphalt surface. It runs through Veľký Cetín to the Nitra River, ending there at a junction with the Ponitrianska Cycle Route. Alongside Route 019, this provides a clearly designated connection between Paňa, Veľký Cetín and the Nitra River within the local network of cycle paths.

Route 2118, the Dolné Krškany–Branč–Poľný Kesov–Cabaj–Čápor circular route, requires more endurance. It is 43.1 kilometres long, easy, suitable for recreation and designed as a mountain biking route on asphalt and surfaced paths. In the direction of Veľký Cetín, Route 2118 shares its course with the Ponitrianska Cycle Route; in Veľký Cetín, it then branches off towards Branč.

Culture

A monument erected in 1993 commemorates local victims of the wars of the 20th century. The war memorial is located in a park-like area in front of the church on Kostolná ulica. It was created by the sculptor Nagy János.

Archaeological finds are also part of Veľký Cetín’s character. Excavations uncovered a Slavic settlement. In addition, a La Tène-period settlement has been documented in Veľký Cetín. There is also a Quadi burial ground dating from the later Roman Imperial period.

The Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary was originally Gothic and was built in 1307. It was rebuilt in 1692 and reconstructed again in 1911. Its furnishings include a baptismal font with a Renaissance base from the 16th century and a Baroque basin from the 18th century. The church is in good condition and continues to serve its religious purpose.

Landscape

From Veľký Cetín, the view extends in all directions. The highest point of the locality lies between Veľký Cetín and Paňa, in the vineyards, at 209 metres above sea level.

Wine

Wine is also among the documented cultural associations of the locality: the 47th edition of Výstava vín Veľký Cetín was a public wine tasting held at the cultural centre of Veľký Cetín.

The included services, price components, and booking and cancellation conditions are likewise comparable. Thus, the stated conditions of the holiday apartment or other forms of accommodation remain clearly separate from the described cycle paths, buildings, archaeological sites and references to wine.
