Holiday apartment in Čab: culture and wide-ranging views over Radošinka

Čab combines a distinctive landscape with remarkable memorial sites and a viewpoint offering far-reaching panoramas. Morový stĺp is the oldest monument in Čab and a Baroque plague column. It commemorates the 46 people who died in the cholera outbreak of 1773. Today, Morový stĺp is protected by the Monuments Board.

Culture

Another defining site is the new chapel in Čab. It was built in 1889 at a road junction in a Romanticising style. Its architectural form is Neo-Gothic; it is dedicated to Saints Cyril and Methodius, the Slavic apostles of Christianity. Historically, Holy Mass was celebrated in the Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius only on feast days and at funerals. The cultural events of the municipality of Čab also include the “Cyrilometodejské oslavy”, celebrations of Cyril and Methodius.

Landscape and viewpoints

Čab lies on the western slopes of the Nitrianska pahorkatina on both sides of the Radošinka stream. The landscape is clearly shaped by this location on the slopes and along the stream. A prominent viewpoint is the RADOŠINKA lookout tower. It stands on a ridge of the Nitrianska pahorkatina with the historic name Mraha, where the cadastral areas of Čab, Nové Sady and Šurianky meet, at an elevation of 218 m above sea level.

From the RADOŠINKA lookout tower, you can see across the Podunajská pahorkatina and towards the Tribeč, Vtáčnik, Strážovské vrchy, Považský Inovec and Malé Karpaty mountain ranges. The old city of Nitra and nearby Topoľčany are also part of this panorama. Thus, from a single viewpoint, both the hilly landscape and several named mountain ranges and cities are visible.

The RADOŠINKA lookout tower is a destination for active tourism and leisure activities for nature lovers, hikers and cyclists. KST RADOŠINKA supports its members in various forms of hiking and in sporting activities. The core mission of KST RADOŠINKA includes mountain hiking at home and abroad. The locality therefore combines the lookout tower with the organised activities of the hiking club, including hiking and sporting activities.

Local events

Community life also has a strong culinary focus. Čabský kotlík is a recurring public goulash-cooking competition in Čab. The series includes the third edition on 3 September 2022 and the seventh edition on 5 September 2026, each followed by a music programme.
