The museum displays the Egyptian mummy Tasheritnetiak from Abusir el-Melek, one of five Egyptian mummies in Slovakia. The Gothic Route also leads to cultural points of interest in the city. It recommends beginning at the Tourist Information Centre on Hlavné námestie and first visiting the sights of Rimavská Sobota. The Neoclassical Roman Catholic Church of St. John the Baptist, built between 1774 and 1790, stands on the same square.
