Holiday apartment in Dulovo – local history and a small sacred monument
Dulovo was established at the beginning of the 15th century and is located in the Rimavská kotlina on the right floodplain and the lowest terrace of the Blh. The village therefore brings together a long local history, a clearly described river setting and traces of earlier use.
History and place names
The historical names for Dulovo reflect its changing designations: Dwihaza is documented for the year 1455, Dulovec for 1920, and Dulovo from 1927 onwards. The Hungarian name Dulháza is also used. These name forms span a settlement history marked by clear disruptions. In the 16th and 17th centuries, Dulovo was uninhabited before the village was resettled at the beginning of the 18th century.
Earlier agricultural activity has also been recorded. Historically, fruit trees, cabbage, other vegetables and hemp were cultivated in Dulovo. Later, Dulovo became known for tobacco cultivation. A specific architectural connection to the local history emerged in the 19th century: the Member of Parliament Abrahám Farkas and his son Mikuláš Farkas built a manor house in Dulovo.
Landscape and earlier use
The area around Dulovo is predominantly flat to hilly and features pronounced terraces. Remnants of oak-hornbeam forests can be found in the western part of the area. Historical land use around Dulovo included pastureland where the inhabitants grazed their livestock. The landscape thus comprises both wooded remnants and open areas, as well as the distinctive terrace structure.
Sacred traces and mills
The bell tower of Dúlháza (Dulovo) is a small sacred monument. The inscription “ANNO D. 1740/FERENC VRAIN. V. /DULHÁZI REMEK” appears on the bell tower. A worn Latin inscription bearing the year 1809 can also be read there. Both years belong to the inscriptions explicitly preserved on the structure.
The history of local water use includes two different references to mills. There was a mill on the Blh stream in Dulovo. In Dúlháza, there was a two-stone mill on the Balog River.

Regional bus route 517 serves Dulovo. The “Dulovo, rázc.” stop is served only on signal or request.
