Ráztoka: Holiday Apartment, Hradisko and the Low Tatras

Hradisko, a national cultural monument, is located in Ráztoka. The settlement site, situated on a hill, has the form of a hillfort. Hradisko contains traces of settlement from the Bronze Age, the Late Iron Age and the Middle Ages. This means that several historical periods are represented side by side in one place.

History and Culture

The architectural history of Ráztoka includes the chapel “kaplnka Sedembolestnej Panny Márie”. It was built in 1942 on the site of a former chapel dating from the 14th century. The chronological sequence remains directly legible in the building itself: the present-day sacred structure dates from the 20th century, while its location goes back to a much older chapel.

The Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary, “Kostol Navštívenia Panny Márie”, was built in 1840. It is a single-nave building with a semicircular chancel end and a wooden roof turret. The cultural character of the area is further complemented by a historically established tradition of lace-making. Part of the population was engaged in lace-making.

Landscape

Ráztoka lies in a basin of the Nízke Tatry and is surrounded by the Farkašovo, Hradisko and Pod šípom mountains. The village also lies within the protected zone of the Nízke Tatry National Park.

In the vicinity of Ráztoka, Ráztocká hoľa offers views from its summit and ridge of the main ridge of the Low Tatras and, to the south, of the Horehronská kotlina. The named landscape areas thus extend from the immediate mountain surroundings to the visible regional connections.

Trails and Events

The “Ráztocké studničky” educational trail is located in Ráztoka and was established by the municipality in 2008. Two marked cycling routes run through the surroundings of Ráztoka. There are also two marked hiking trails in the area, with route numbers 2622 and 0816. These marked hiking trails lead in the direction of Predné Lazy, Zadné Lazy, Panské sedlo and Ráztocká hoľa.

The “Ráztocký sviatok” festival takes place in Ráztoka every year. The Ráztoka municipality provides information about upcoming events through its “V OBRAZE” mobile app.

Getting There

Bus route 405 operates on the Osrblie–Jasenie–Predajná–Nemecká–Ráztoka/Banská Bystrica route and includes a stop in Ráztoka.
