Fields, stream and watermill

From Wittem, you can reach the gently rising fields outside the village. A special feature is the mill stream of the Watermolen Wittem, which flows through the garden of Klooster Wittem. The Watermolen was built in 1835 by the rentiers of Kasteel Wittem, the Merkelbach brothers; its water wheel is housed entirely inside the building.

Wittem also offers a thematic focus for cycling tours. The Marialint connects Wittem via cycle nodes with Marian pilgrimage sites in Tienray, Venlo, Roermond, Sittard and Maastricht. From Maastricht railway station, bus route 350 towards Vaals/Aachen runs to the Sinselbeek stop; from there it is a five-minute walk to Klooster Wittem.
