From the elevated panoramas of the Bastei, views extend across the Elbe Valley, encompassing the sandstone table mountains, the Elbe and Königstein Fortress. Nature and Landscape

The Lohmen Gorge combines rushing water, steep rock faces and hiking trails with a historic hydroelectric power station in the Niezelgrund. The power station began producing electricity in 1910 and was put back into operation in 2000.

Culture and History

Lohmen Church is an octagonal Baroque central-plan building made of sandstone, constructed from 1786 to 1789. Its protected interior contains an organ created by Johann Christian Kayser in 1789.

Lohmen Castle has more than 500 years of history. Today, the restored castle wing houses the municipal administration and the library; the castle wing can be visited during the municipal administration's opening hours.

The Richard Wagner Monument is located in the nearby area of Lohmen, in the Liebethaler Grund on the first stage of the Painter's Way. Created in 1933, the monument is a 12.5-metre-high bronze work by Richard Guhr and a cultural monument in a natural setting.
