Reinsdorf: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Reinsdorf combines paths to viewpoints, nature on former mining sites and special places in its districts. On the northern ridge, walking trails lead to viewpoints overlooking the Ore Mountains ridge, the Vogtland region and Zwickau. Benches are provided at several high points. Those wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Reinsdorf can then continue searching for accommodation.
Experiences
In the district of Friedrichsgrün, the Haus der Entdecker offers experiments in the fields of natural sciences, mathematics and art. At its stations, visitors can experiment, conduct research and observe. The planetarium can show the starry sky above Reinsdorf in real time. The park railway also circles Hasenhügel hill in Friedrichsgrün Park.
Nature
Halde 11 is a protected natural monument in northern Reinsdorf at the former Shaft V of the Martin Hoop Works. Beside the Pöhlwald forest, the spoil heap has developed into a pioneer woodland habitat with a herbaceous layer. Its dry, warm plateau provides a refuge for heat-loving open-land insects. It is also home to several hundred specimens of the orchid Gymnadenia rhellicani.
Culture and History
The Local History and Mining Museum is located in the headframe of the former Morgenstern Shaft II. Across four floors, it presents exhibitions on mining, agriculture and local history; mining equipment is displayed both indoors and outdoors.
In the Reinsdorf district of Vielau, Vielau Manor was once the residence of the local nobility and is now a meeting place. Friedrichsgrün preserves further historical connections: Hammelhof, the district’s oldest building, was first mentioned in 1464. Directly behind it is the Wohl, an early German ring-wall fortification. Friedrichsgrün also developed as a village of hand weavers.
