Schutz lies in the valley of the Kleine Kyll between wooded hills and provides a local setting for exploring the Vulkaneifel. Nature

The Burberg is a volcanic mountain in the Vulkaneifel Nature Park and was formed around 11,000 years ago. The route also passes through wooded sections and follows the Speicherbach and the Kleine Kyll.

Hiking

The HeimatSpur Burbergweg is a 13.1 km circular hiking trail of moderate difficulty that starts and ends at St. Wendelin Chapel in Schutz. The trail has 230 m of ascent and descent and takes approximately 3 hours and 45 minutes.

Parking for the Burbergweg is available at the chapel on Dorfstraße in Schutz.

Culture

At the Burberg, which the Burbergweg includes, remains of a Roman fortification from the 4th century have been identified as cultural heritage along the route.
