Culture and History

The local heritage includes Bekond Castle, a former moated castle first mentioned in 1653 and rebuilt from 1709 onwards as a Baroque palace with an orangery. Also included are the parish church of St. Clement from 1827/28 and the Rochus Chapel from the 19th century.

Enjoyment and Tradition

Some Bekond winegrowers offer bookable wine and fruit brandy tastings, including a combined wine and schnapps tasting called “Hutgespräch” in an old vaulted cellar.

The regularly held Krumpernfest, which has existed since 1980, celebrates the potato and advocates supporting small farmers in the potato’s homeland.
