The Rhine and Park Island

The Rhine promenade runs along Ludwigshafen’s left bank of the Rhine. It is used by walkers and joggers and offers views across the Rhine towards Mannheim.

Park Island is a green Rhine island with villas, old trees and paths along the water. Outside the festival period, its paths, meadows and riverbank are used for walking, jogging and relaxing. In summer, the Stadtpark hosts the German Film Festival. Park Island serves as a waterside venue, with a temporary tent city set up for the event.

Visitor Attractions

The BASF Visitor Center offers exhibition tours and guided tours of the entire Ludwigshafen plant site. The exhibition extends across five levels, and the visitor centre has 2,000 square metres of visitor space. The programme also includes events where visitors can experience BASF live.
