Nature

The Neuhofener Altrhein is an isolated inland body of water where around 200 bird species have been counted. Near Altrip, there is also the Blaue Adria recreational area with around 100,000 square meters of beach. Swimming is possible there.

Culture and History

The Protestant church tower in Altrip dates from the early 13th century. Historically, the tower served Rhine boatmen as a landmark and distance marker. At the same time, it is described as the only fully preserved Romanesque tower in its district.

In 2019, a 2.20-meter-high Valentinian stele was unveiled in Altrip. This took place during the celebrations marking the town's 1,650th anniversary.

Getting Around

The Rhein-Pfalz-Kreis is well suited for cycling because of its few significant inclines and its own network of routes. Its extensive cycling network also includes the Kraut und Rüben Cycle Route.

The Altrip ferry is used by cyclists, motorcyclists, walkers, and families heading to recreational areas around Altrip. The crossing takes less than ten minutes.

Seasonal produce from the Rhein-Pfalz-Kreis is served in pubs and restaurants throughout the region.
