Wißmannsdorf: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Hiking

The Südeifel Nature Park Circular Trail No. 22 is a 16.7-kilometre, moderately difficult hike. It begins and ends at Place Montaigut on the main road in Wißmannsdorf, passing through the Echtersbach Valley and the Hammer Büsch, a hillside forest. The route offers a panoramic view of Hamm Castle. Hamm Castle is a late-medieval fortification dating from the 14th century and can be visited upon request. Near Biersdorf am See, Trail No. 22 runs parallel for several kilometres to the Bitburger Brewery Route for Nordic walking.

The Kleine Prümschleife is a short circular trail around Wißmannsdorf. It follows the Prüm, passes a small local forest and offers views across the Bitburger Gutland.

Culture and History

Wißmannsdorf has the Catholic parish church of St. Martin and St. Rosa, as well as chapels in the districts of Hermesdorf and Koosbüsch. Roadside crosses from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries stand in the village; the Lasch Cross dates from 1579. Wißmannsdorf had a sandstone-working tradition that lasted for more than 400 years, until the mid-1950s. The Lasch Cross is considered the most artistically elaborate roadside cross in the Trier district.
