Burbach: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Burbach lies on the border between the northern edge of the Kyllburger Waldeifel and the Islek. Truffvenn near Burbach is a 6.4-hectare protected area located northeast of Burbach that was placed under protection in 1986. Culture and History
Burbach's parish church is dedicated to St. Margaretha. It began as a chapel built in 1756 and was substantially expanded in 1950. In 1570, Burbach was recorded under the name “Boirbach”; the local interpretation of the name is “the house by the stream.”
In the churchyard of St. Margaretha Parish Church stands a wayside shrine dating from 1812. Another wayside shrine from 1718 is located near Hillstraße 17. At Heldstraße 6 stands a single-storey Unterstallhaus with a field kitchen dating from 1824. A Flurküchenhaus at Talstraße 3 dates from 1778 and has an extension from the early 20th century.
History
Several crosses mark paths and crossroads in and around Burbach. A niche cross from 1658 stands on the road from Burbach to Balesfeld near the municipal boundary. A niche cross from 1727 is located on the old Hochstraße to Seffern northeast of Burbach. Another niche cross from 1605 stands at the junction with the former route from Burbach to Balesfeld. A beam cross from 1790 also stands on the old Hochstraße to Seffern, about 500 metres south of the other crosses. West of Burbach, a shaft cross from 1822 is located at the intersection of the Neustraßburg–Nimshuscheid and Burbach–Wawern roads.
A late Baroque beam cross from 1776 stands in the Kyllwald forest on the Pilgrims' Road between Neuheilenbach and Weißenseifen. The Köhler Cross is a small late Baroque beam cross in the Kyllwald forest on the same Pilgrims' Road. It stands near a hunting lodge beside the Pilgrims' Road, about 10 metres from the path, and is connected with the pilgrimage route from the North Eifel to Trier Abbey of St. Matthias.
