Rodershausen: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Rodershausen is located in the South Eifel Nature Park and is surrounded by gently rolling hills and woodland. Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Rodershausen can then continue searching for accommodation.

Nature

The area around Rodershausen offers numerous hiking trails through the natural landscapes of the South Eifel. The local landscape provides space for relaxing walks; routes through the South Eifel Nature Park offer views across the countryside. Local circular hiking trail no. 35, “Gemünd-Dauwelshausen,” runs alongside the Rodershausen planning area.

The Rodershausen planning area is located in the Karlshausen Plateau landscape, a gently rolling plateau at an elevation of more than 500 metres. The Karlshausen Plateau is part of the West Eifel. The planning area features a highly diverse landscape with a small-scale mix of experiential areas; there are natural attractions around Rodershausen. To the northwest, the Our Valley FFH area (6003-301) borders the Rodershausen planning area; it is characterised by wooded valley slopes.

Culture

Rodershausen has two wayside shrines dating from 1879 and 1907; both contain depictions of the Pietà. There is also a round-arched wayside chapel dating from 1910.

The wayside shrine on Hauptstraße is dated 1907 and contains a probably mass-produced Pietà in a niche structure crowned by a gable. A wayside shrine standing northwest of Rodershausen on the road to Dauwelshausen is designed like a Station of the Cross and contains an almost fully three-dimensional Pietà dating from 1879.

Rodershausen cemetery contains a Baroque shaft cross dating from 1705 and a finial cross dating from 1688. The Schneiderskreuz shaft cross stands on Sülmer Straße in Rodershausen. Rodershausen has a Neo-Gothic church. The Catholic parish church of St James in Rodershausen is a Gothic Revival hall church dating from 1898 and is associated with the architect Knepper from Diekirch in Luxembourg. The Rodershausen carnival association organises a Kappensitzung every year.

The South Eifel Nature Park provides an experience map to help visitors find their way through its cultural landscapes. The map is available from tourist information offices, including the one in Neuerburg. A stop named “Rodershausen Ort” is listed in the EMV timetable for route 491.
