Along the Way

Circular Hiking Trail 51 begins and ends at the Kruchten-Schwarzenbruch hikers’ car park, opposite the riding stables. It leads through dense forest and along natural paths as well as gravel, field and farm tracks. Along the way, the route passes through beech forest and continues into dense coniferous forest. A small stream flows alongside the path. In clear weather, Circular Hiking Trail 51 offers views over villages, hills and fields. Red deer can be spotted along the route.

History and Culture

The Catholic parish church of St. Maximin has a medieval western tower. Kruchten was first documented as Cruten in 751 and 763. The settlement of the village dates back to the Bronze Age. The hamlet of Neuafrika is associated with the story of an emigrant who did not reach his destination.
