Kirschroth is home to around 80 hectares of vineyards and 284 hectares of forest. The elevated location and the different landscapes are particularly evident on the Fuchspfad, a circular hiking trail around Kirschroth that leads through fields, forests and vineyards.
Hiking
The Fuchspfad begins at the community hall in the centre of the village, where parking is available. The trail climbs to 450 metres and offers views over the Nahe Valley, the North Palatinate Uplands and the Hunsrück. There are numerous rest areas along the Fuchspfad.
Wine
Winegrowing has been part of life in Kirschroth for generations. The local vineyards produce Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Dornfelder, Pinot Noir, Rivaner, Bacchus and Regent. The soils, climate and local winegrowing traditions shape the wines. Culture and History
The Kirschroth church was built in 1850 as a late-Classical hall church from red sandstone blocks. Its tower preserves a late-Gothic sacrament niche from an earlier chapel. Kirschroth is first recorded in 1364 under the name “Rodde”. Until the 20th century, agriculture was predominant alongside winegrowing.
On Site
Kirschroth has a motorhome pitch between vineyards, fields and forests. It provides space for up to four large motorhomes or caravans. A playground and a large football pitch are located directly next to the pitch. The pitch is the starting point for the Fuchspfad, walks through the vineyards and cycling along the Nahe.
