Heddesheim is documented as early as 1163 in a record. The name Waldhilbersheim appears in records around 1200. Michael Elias von Obentraut was born in Heddesheim and spent his childhood and youth there. Gustav Pfarrius was also born in Heddesheim and contributed to the first printed guide to the Nahe region.
