Eichenbach: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Eichenbach lies almost entirely within a designated bird sanctuary. The landscape and local history are particularly evident along the hiking trails, at the Chapel of the Fourteen Holy Helpers, and in the cycling and cultural connections associated with Eichenbach.

Hiking

The third stage of the AhrSteig from Aremberg to Insul is 19.4 km long and classified as difficult. It reaches Eichenbach via steep forest paths and, after reaching the village, leads through the Eichenbach Forest.

The short Fürstin-Margaretha Route is approximately 20.7 km long. The Fürstin-Margaretha Trail leads from the Chapel of the Fourteen Holy Helpers onward to Eichenbach and, after Eichenbach, continues through a beech avenue towards Antweiler. From Wershofen to Eichenbach, the route uses a 3 km shortcut via forest paths. In Eichenbach, the Bläke Fritz statue is associated with the Fürstin-Margaretha Route.

Culture and History

The Chapel of the Fourteen Holy Helpers is a local cultural heritage attraction. It contains wooden figures of the fourteen Holy Helpers and a 1626 relief from a wayside shrine. The chapel was built between 1937 and 1941, and the wooden figures were renovated in 1977. The wooden figures in Eichenbach's Chapel of the Fourteen Holy Helpers come from the former chapel in Maßholder.

Bläke Fritz travelled throughout the Eifel as a tinkerer and repaired gutters. He was known for his wit and practical jokes far beyond the borders of the Eifel.

Cycling and Getting There

The Radarena am Ring road cycling tour 1 starts in Eichenbach at Ahrtalstraße 55. Parking is available at this starting point in Eichenbach. Bus route 817 connects Adenau Markt with Eichenbach. In addition, bus route 882 connects Adenau with Eichenbach and continues via Fuchshofen and Schuld.
